...and I couldn't be happier. What a cool little gizmo this is. The Dymo LabelManager Label Printer, Black/Gray (LM360D) arrived yesterday and I have now affixed labels to every inanimate object within my reach and any animate ones that didn't fight back, including the neighbor's toddler ("My name is Carson. I'm noisy, have few social skills, and I bite").

Since I have no aptitude for technology, I thought this would be a challenge to use, but was very pleasantly surprised. I figured it out without any help...high praise from a woman who has to call in a friend when the alarm clock needs to be re-set. The DYMO LabelManager is, as they say, easy enough for a child to operate, and I must admit that Carson was, indeed, the one who figured out how to work the label insertion thingy. Then the little bugger bit me, but to be fair, I did take his cookie when his back was turned.

The machine is so much fun to use, it's addictive. I'm wandering around looking for new... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Dymo LabelManager 360D, July 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: DYMO LabelManager Label Printer, Black/Gray (LM360D) (Office Product)
Sorry but this label printer does not print an acceptable label. I returned it after trying unsuccessfully to create a basic label with type only.

I contacted Dymo support and was told that the output of the label maker is the way it is and can't be changed.

Here's my complaint:

The printer accepts 3/4 inch labels and is designed to allow 2 rows of type on the label. I wanted to create a single label with 2 rows of basic type - just as the device claims it can.

The output of a single line of type is fine, the problem arises when you hit the carriage return and add the second line of type. Once you do that the type stretches horizontally. For example if I type a word in a single line that is 2 inches in length, this same word will be 3-3/4 inches in length once I hit the carriage return.

Using Adobe Indesign I determined that the horizontal scaling of the type on the label is almost 300%!

This is a problem for 2 reasons... Read more

I was so excited to get this machine. I had a ridiculously old label maker that I got from Mom...the kind where you turn a big knob of letters and squeeze down on the letter you want, and the labels NEVER stayed in place. Compared to that, this machine is heaven-sent!

It's simple to use right out of the box, and once I turned it on, I became a label making maniac! My scrapbooking/craft area is now labeled to within an inch of it's life, as well as my kitchen pantry! The labels all attach easily, and most important...THEY STAY IN PLACE!! No more bubbling!

Overall, I absolutely recommend this machine. If you're a crafter or big on organization, than this is a must! I love it!

DYMO 91344 Grape Translucent LetraTag Labelmaker Recommend

Customer Rating :
Rating: 4.3

Product Description

Lunches, files or leftovers-you'll find plenty of things to mark with this handy labelmaker by DYMO. Type your message and edit it on the LCD screen, then print it and stick it almost anywhere. Print up to 2 lines with symbols, caps, italics and different font sizes. You can also box, shadow or outline the text, or turn the letters for a vertical message. Automatically shuts off when unused for two minutes, saving the last label you worked on. Labelmaker comes with one 13-ft. roll of white paper labels. Uses 1/2"-wide label tape. Requires 6AA batteries (not included). 1-yr. limited manufacturer's warranty. Imported. 8Lx3Wx2-1/2D"

Amazon.com

Remember those handheld plastic labelmakers we all had as kids? You'd spin the wheel around and then clamp down when you got to the right letter (and you had to clamp hard to make a mark on that heavy-duty plastic strip). After you got your name out or made a message such as "This is mine keep your hands off," you'd discover you spelled "keep" as "kep" and had to start over. Plus, the tape would invariably buckle and fall off wherever you stuck it.

Now labelmakers have joined the information age. The LetraTag 2000 labelmaker is akin to a handheld word processor, and boy, is it fun to use. There are so many cool little features that you really do need to read the instructions to take full advantage of it. To get started, you just flip up the top of the labelmaker and insert the cartridge. This model comes with 13 feet of standard white tape, but you can purchase extra paper, plastic, or metallic labels in seven different colors. The LetraTag requires six AA batteries, which are not included. Once those are in, you can press the red power button and get started.

The LetraTag defaults to normal text and lowercase letters, but with a little inputting you can create capitals, bold, big bold, italic, outlined, shadowed, or vertical text. It also has a box/underline feature that will surround your text with underlines or rounded, shaded, toothed, or pointed boxes, plus our favorite, the crocodile box (the croc grins at you!). If your labeling area is tight, you can use the two-line feature to double up the text so it prints two lines instead of one. It also provides a host of international letters and accent marks in addition to a range of symbols including a telephone, smiley face, heart, and cat.

As you input your label, what you've typed scrolls across the LCD screen (up to 72 characters). To go back and change your message, just use the arrow keys. When you're ready to print, you can press "shift-print preview" to see your label. Once the label is printed, just press the scissors key and the label will pop off. Handily, the last label made will automatically be retained in memory in case you turn the LetraTag off by accident.

Great for the home or office, kids or adults, the LetraTag is handy and easy to use, and comes in a funky translucent purple color. --Dana Van Nest

3.0 out of 5 stars Before you order this!, October 15, 2000
By A Customer
Make sure you include at least one label tape casette with your order! I wrongly assumed that it would come with one and now have to pay for shipping again to get the tape. Also, be sure you have 6 batteries.

3.0 out of 5 stars Newer Not Necessarily Better, October 10, 2000

"starfleet-5" (Clarks Summit, Pa United States) - See all my reviews
I have had the electronic Dymo Letratag Label Maker for several months but I find myself still reaching for my old manual type Dymo label makers.

While the Letratag does have a lot of features and offers a much broader character and symbol set, in a variety of different fonts and styles, I find this to be overkill when I just want to make a quick label.

Furthermore, the cost of the Letratag labels is exorbitant compared to the old type Dymo plastic labels. I can buy 3-4 rolls of the old type Dymo plastic labels, with a lot more footage, for the same price as one roll of Letratag. I also find that printing only in black is a limitation. There are times when the white lettering (as found in the old type labels) is more suitable in certain lighting conditions. Currently, the Letratag label is limited to a " width, whereas, the older type Dymo plastic labels come in 3/8" and " widths. The inch is especially handy when labeling small part draws or the side of a plastic CD... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your old DYMO, February 7, 2000
By
WOW We are impressed. I bought this before Christmas to help my daughter (9 years old) improve her organizational skills and now the entire family uses it. My husband and I each take it to work and the kids use it for numerous school-related things. My husband's employer and mine have each made purchases of this item since seeing how wonderful it is and easy to use. We may have to buy three more so we can all have our own. Tremendous improvement over the old DYMOs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little printer, December 23, 2011

This review is from: DYMO Label Writer Serial and USB Connected Label Printer (SE450) (Office Product)
This is a replacement printer for an SE300 that suddenly quit after 6 years of daily use. the SE models are needed if your software only recognizes the serial interface. This printer is much faster than the earlier model. We use it on a Macintosh network to print prescription labels and mailing labels for our veterinary clinic. It works great. I just wish our vet software vendor would clean up the interface so we could choose from the full line of USB printers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! One of these works!, October 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: DYMO Label Writer Serial and USB Connected Label Printer (SE450) (Office Product)
My practice management software requires a serial connection label printer for prescription labels, and I went through THREE of these before I finally found one that would print labels correctly, consistently. I purchased from 3 different vendors, and this one FINALLY feeds labels appropriately, it doesn't get caught and print on 2 labels, and it prints fast! I don't recommend the product overall if you don't HAVE to have the serial connection - the price just isn't worth it. But if you need it, I recommend this vendor - they finally sent me one that wasn't busted :)
